Cancellation & refund

Book projects reserve specialist time and often involve strategy, research, reading, writing, editing, design, production, and project management before a finished file is delivered. Cancellation and refund decisions therefore depend on the applicable agreement, work completed, commitments made, and the stage of the project.

Send a written request to info@keeperoftales.com. The request becomes effective when received and acknowledged. We will review the current project stage, completed and in-progress work, scheduled production time, approvals, and non-cancellable third-party costs.

Deposits and booking payments generally reserve capacity and cover onboarding, planning, and initial work. Unless a project agreement says otherwise, amounts attributable to completed work, time already reserved, or costs already committed are not refundable.

For strategy, coaching, ghostwriting, developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, or proofreading, any potential refund is calculated after deducting work completed through the cancellation date. Completed manuscript reviews, outlines, sessions, drafts, editorial passes, and approved milestones are non-refundable.

Cover concepts, interior layouts, typesetting, ebook conversion, metadata preparation, file testing, account setup, and distribution submissions become non-refundable as each phase begins or is delivered. No refund is available for an approved or delivered phase except where required by law or expressly agreed in writing.

Printing, proofs, ISBNs, stock assets, fonts, software, rush services, platform charges, shipping, advertising, and other external costs purchased or committed for a project are non-refundable unless the relevant provider issues a refund to us.

Missing materials, feedback, approvals, access, or payments may pause the schedule and require the project to be rescheduled. Extended inactivity does not create a right to a refund. Any restart fee, archival period, or termination provision stated in the project agreement will apply.

If a refund is due, we will explain the calculation in writing. Approved refunds are normally returned through the original payment method where possible; bank and payment-provider processing times may vary.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, refunded or unpaid concepts, drafts, edits, designs, production files, and strategy materials may not be used, published, distributed, or transferred. Rights to final deliverables transfer only as stated in the project agreement and after required payments are complete.

If a signed proposal, statement of work, or other written agreement contains cancellation or refund terms specific to a project, those terms control to the extent of any conflict with this general website policy.
